Title: "Black & Green Adam & Eve"

Summary: Poem about the love of Adge & Mel. Mel's POV

Rating: PG-13 for some sexual innuendo

Spoilers/Timeline: First book

Characters: Mel, Adrien

Note: Mel & Adge= ♥ Also: This originally contained a snatch of lyrics from Nirvana's "Smells Like Teen Spirit", but I'm not idiotic enough to post the poem on the internet including that bit, as Courtney Love likes to sue people like that

Black and Green Adam and Eve

My darling, you're

well-loved by all who know you, you're my

wicked one, my

Prince of Vaudevillians, and you're

standing there on the split road

One way's Rome, the other way's Jerusalem

For which our

monster with my blood hates you for

if he would

get to know the you I’ve known

he would end up

loving you too

More like myself than I'll

admit to, you always

mirrored me, and knew

my mind already, so you

explored me for the

woman I was and could be

In this game of life

we're running a race and true love's the trophy

Like a good book

I can't put this

love away

No matter how I try, I can't erase

that life

that life in Paradise with you

Who'd a' known i'd

drown in... bottle-green seas

and I

taste Eden on your skin

and it

makes me laugh

and I

feel like Wuthering Heights

Breaking brother's law

The point of the star he forbid broke my seal.

Such a devious smirk but such innocent eyes

bottle green's hazel now

dear kaleidoscope eyes

that I

love.

Lying in his tangled nest of

knit blankets and travel magazines strewn

on the bed.

ruffled hair and bare arms

looks comfy, move over why don't you?

and there's

knuckles brushing down my sides

and my

feet are slipping on cotton sheets

and I'm

wrapped in your arms in the dark

thanking God as you breathe

and our

fingers are twining, making love of their own

and I'm happy.

Like a good book

I can't put this

love away

No matter how I try, I can't erase

that life,

that life in heaven with you

you're twirling gold spindles on your fingers

and your

blue jeans ride low when you're lying down

and I

Never thought I’d be

lying in the fields to do anything but

look at the sky but now

we're laying there for other reasons

And I

note your eyes

they're olive today

and I

feel soft rushes of wind on my back

as they blow through the fields

and I'm happy

Like a good book

I can't put this

love away

No matter how I try, I can't erase

that life,

that life in Elysium with you

And you're doing headstands in the grass

and I

laugh as you try to balance on those pretty hands

while your

long legs waver in the air

and you

laugh now too as your goodluck charm falls around your ears

and I'm

glowing now in the grass

because my Prince is laughing

Greek breezes left us languid

and your

hair grew loose and curled

and it's shining blue black

and your eyes are brackish emerald

and you're my Onyx angel

and that

white-washed villa knows the sound

of our love

and I'm happy.

And I

try to breathe

you in all at once, it's lovely

like licorice or mint tea

and I won't let that

slip from my lungs again

I won't let your

hand leave my back again

cause you make me

feel safe

safe, not weak, in love

in love with you

Like a good book

I can't put this

love away

No matter how I try, I can't erase

that life

that life in shangri-la with you

reading Blake's Broken Love,

your lap cradled my head

singing 'Gorecki' and Nirvana at

the piano soft and slow

And I

love it when you're

on the stage, doesn't matter

if you're

bangin' the keys or singing, you

built a stairway to paradise

Velvet and mahogany

Where we

began to learn

How to suffocate pain with glitter

Somewhere between

the stars and the gutter it lay

the world of

the undying love of the public eye

The moon casted it’s

light on our palace

Bathing all

with sated siren light that tempted the senses

If only those fools outside

knew that the glitter in their eyes was poison.

I wish you'd fly me up to

the rafters of that theatre roof

and we

could just be

safe in love, free from pain

and maybe we

could have caught

our falling lark from there

What torture,

revisiting our Garden

when what we created was destroyed by a snake in the orchard

I guess we just turned out to be

A black and green Adam and Eve

Like a good book

I can't put this

love away

No matter how I try, I can't erase

that life,

that life in Valhalla with you

So we

try to head forward

but I keep falling back

and though I love him

I love you still

and I

can't forget

the heat of your mouth on my flesh

but I don't

want to forget that anyway

so I'll

keep it in

my dreams, my nightly fantasies

and I

can't let go

of the story book love we almost had.
